Charles Siebert from The New York Times has written about Lawrence Anthony as part of “The Lives They Lived”, an annual collection of profiles of influential people who passed away that year.
Siebert describes how Anthony came to host nine elephants that had been orphaned by poaching and culling on his game reserve, Thula Thula. Anthony’s book, The Elephant Whisperer, that he co-wrote with Graham Spence, describes the long process he went through to earn the trust of the elephants. Anthony suffered a heart attack and passed away in March last year.
