Danny Bate

Danny Bate is a linguist with BA and MPhil degrees in linguistics from the University of York and Cambridge and a PhD in linguistics from the University of Edinburgh. For many years he has focused on historical linguistics, particularly attempting to reconstruct sentences from long-dead prehistoric languages.
Over the past few years, he has built up an online social media presence to a following of over 30,000 by sharing digestible facts about historical linguistics and the etymology of words (@DannyBate4). He also writes longer pieces about the history of English, grammar and the Indo-European language family on his website (dannybate.com) and talks about languages that he loves on his podcast A Language I Love is...
